Overview
Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, Jim Corbett National Park is India's oldest and most prestigious national park, spanning 520 square kilometers in Uttarakhand's Himalayan foothills. Named after legendary hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett, the park protects diverse ecosystems including sal forests, riverine belts, grasslands, and hills. Home to the majestic Bengal tiger, Asian elephants, leopards, and over 600 bird species, Corbett offers exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities. The park is divided into zones (Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna) each offering unique experiences. River Ramganga flows through the park, creating scenic valleys and providing water to wildlife. Best known for jeep safaris and canter rides through tiger territory, the park combines adventure with conservation education.
