Nahargarh Fort
Hilltop fort with spectacular sunset views over Jaipur's Pink City
Overview
Nahargarh Fort, meaning "Abode of Tigers," sits atop the Aravalli Hills overlooking Jaipur. Built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II as part of the city's defense ring with Amber and Jaigarh forts, it was never attacked. The fort is famous for its extended walls connecting to Jaigarh Fort, creating an impressive defense network. Inside, Madhavendra Bhawan palace features nine identical apartments for the king's nine queens, connected by corridors. Today, Nahargarh is Jaipur's premier sunset viewpoint, offering 360-degree views of the Pink City, Jal Mahal, and surrounding hills. The fort also houses a wax museum and has appeared in several Bollywood films.
