Savitri Temple
Hilltop temple with panoramic Pushkar views, accessible via stairs or ropeway
Overview
Savitri Temple sits atop a hill overlooking Pushkar, dedicated to Savitri (first wife of Lord Brahma). According to mythology, when Brahma married Gayatri in Savitri's absence, the angry Savitri cursed him and settled on this hill. The temple offers spectacular 360-degree views of Pushkar Lake, town, surrounding Aravalli hills, and desert. Reaching the temple requires climbing approximately 650 steep steps (30-45 minutes) or taking the ropeway (5 minutes). The climb is strenuous but rewarding, especially at sunrise or sunset. The hilltop is peaceful with fewer crowds than town temples. Many visitors combine the climb with sunrise or sunset viewing. A small restaurant serves refreshments at the top.
