Lake Pichola
Serene man-made lake with floating Lake Palace and sunset boat cruises
Overview
Lake Pichola, created in 1362 AD, is Udaipur's most iconic lake featuring the stunning white marble Lake Palace (Jag Niwas) appearing to float on its surface. This artificial freshwater lake spans 4 km in length and is surrounded by hills, palaces, temples, bathing ghats, and embankments. The lake has four islands: Jag Niwas (Lake Palace Hotel), Jag Mandir, Mohan Mandir, and Arsi Vilas. Boat rides at sunset offer magical views of City Palace, Lake Palace glowing in golden light, and the Aravalli hills. The lake's water level varies with monsoon - during good monsoon years, it offers spectacular reflections, while in drought years water levels drop significantly.
