Mehrangarh Fort
One of India's largest forts with museum, zip-lining, and panoramic blue city views
Overview
Mehrangarh Fort, rising 125 meters above Jodhpur, is one of India's largest and most magnificent forts. Built in 1459 by Rao Jodha, this imposing fortress has massive walls up to 36 meters high and 21 meters wide. The fort complex houses several palaces with intricate carvings and expansive courtyards - Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace), Phool Mahal (Flower Palace), Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), and others. The museum is one of India's best, showcasing an excellent collection of palanquins, royal cradles, miniature paintings, arms, costumes, and folk instruments. The fort offers breathtaking 360-degree views of Jodhpur's blue city, surrounding desert, and Jaswant Thada. Adventure seekers can try the Flying Fox zip-lining across the fort.
